I am an American-Luxembourgish photographer, encaustic and mixed-media artist, and professional restoration ecologist based in Sacramento, California. My art resides at the intersection of science, dreams, and spirituality, and is informed by studies in language, cartography, Tibetan Buddhism, yoga, Japanese ceramics, ornithology, botany, and ecosystem ecology, and travels in the USA, Australia, and Europe. I seek to inspire appreciation for California native ecosystems, and to increase awareness of the growing threat of global climate change.
I use images of nature, ancient motifs, and patterns to map personal dreams, spiritual and physical journeys, ecological systems, and climate change. My encaustic wax paintings incorporate digitally altered original photography, collage, vintage ephemera, a range of drawing and painting media, impressionist-style application of color, and excavations. My abstract work often includes representational elements encoding family stories, personal secrets, and spiritual messages. I also create cyanotypes (an alternative photography process using the sun), and use ink, watercolor, graphite, and a variety of media to create drawings and monoprints on paper, some of which is ultimately incorporated into my encaustic paintings.
I have also been creating art with artificial intelligence since 2021.
